EXPANSION:
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
The most prominent thing that one notices about the Beonan race is that they are, well, short. The tallest that a Beonan usually gets is 4'10" feet, though there are rare cases of taller, but that’s typically the absolute tallest you can expect to grow, and most do not reach that height, the average being roughly 4’3” for males, and 4’5” for females. The second thing, however, would be hard to place. It could be their grey skin, covering every inch of them, or perhaps their yellow eyes, yellow where a human’s would be white, and lacking an iris, simply with a black pupil, or maybe the yellow and orange horns that adorn every single one of them, in varying shapes and designs per person.
In addition to all of this, there are their black lips, their extremely sharp teeth, which usually poke slightly out of their mouths, looking as if there are simply too many to fit in their mouth, their equally black mop of hair, the same exact color for every Beonan, and their sharp black claws on both their hands, and on their feet. Many people would call their looks a touch… odd. Clothing-wise, for the most part, the entire race likes to stick to simplicity, function over fashion and the like, though there are always exceptions.
In addition to these traits that all Beonans share, there are some mutations, which, while uncommon, are not unheard of. Some Beonans have reported an odd case where one eye is red, and one is blue (no other colors, oddly enough, just those two), a few have multiple horns, instead of just two, some have different colored streaks in their hair, completely natural, and some have odd fin-like ears, instead of their usual slightly pointed ones. These are quite uncommon, but again, not unheard of amongst the Beonans. Typically, it’s just an oddity, and doesn’t really mean anything to them.
CULTURE:
The first thing that most notice about the Beonans is that they rely greatly on touch. Speaking is usually a secondary communication for them, as how body language is typically for humans, using touch to express what they feel more often, greetings being gentle brushes of the shoulder as they walk by, good-byes just a wave and not verbal… Much of it stems from the fact that, once more, they’re a very ‘hidden’ race. Gotta keep it on the down low, so even though they’re honestly far more safe now than they were in the past, it’s stuck with them. So there is nooo such thing as a personal space bubble on Beonan, unfortunately.
The second thing would be the fact that they’re, well, peaceful. There is rarely any fighting amongst the Beonans, simply because anything that does get too big, they take to the Tettan, and it gets taken of right there, with no hard feelings or anything. Their word is considered law, so it’s simplified that way. Thus, no hard feelings, no grudges, nothing like that. Some do, of course, but they’re very atypical. Third, there’s the fact that they’re very wary around strangers. Having never met another species up until this point, the fact that there’s so many out there makes them very wary, and they aren’t keen to meet them, or explore into them… Of course, that’s as a whole. There are individual exceptions.
There’s also the fact that they’re very law-abiding, accepting the Tettan’s words always, the males not questioning the fact that they’re supposed to be lower, most parents being totally okay with not helping their kids hatch, and when they do help, that’s looked down upon, because wow, you did that? They compromise, some people taking certain tasks, others taking others, and you have to be good at something. Considering everything’s hand crafted, there has to be something you’re good at, something you can trade for other things, and considering the lack of currency, it works quite well.
Finally, there’s the fact that they hunt their food, eating meat, and all planets in the United Planets would find that very repulsive, given the fact that they don’t eat meat there.

HISTORY:
Originally, the Beonans didn’t have a government. They lived together, all of them, in one big group for protection, because they didn’t want to get hunted down. In order to reproduce, Beonans lay eggs, being egg-laying mammals like the ancient earth creature known as a platypus, and it is up to the infant Beonan, when they are grown enough, to break themselves out of their shells with their claws and teeth. Typically, the females have stronger claws and teeth, as they need them stronger to be able to damage their male counterparts with their durable skin, and thus, more females were born than males. Some parents break their children out if they can’t succeed, but most do not, and if it is found out that a child had to be broken out, they are often looked down upon, along with their parents.
Regardless, the female population grew far more quickly than the male population, and after a few too many instances of inner fighting, people arguing and well, actually fighting, a group of females got together and made the Tettan, a council with the oldest females living, as they were obviously the wisest, and there were more of them, to settle disputes. At first, it was simply because there were more females that they were the ones chosen to be on the Tettan, because they had come up with it.
Over time, though, that changed. The Tettan grew in respect and figurative power, their word, instead of being advisory, to help people, became law, and the stereotype that females were better began to spread. Seeing as they were the only ones with power, it was fairly easy, for the males to start falling out of sight, the “seen, but not heard” comment being employed for the adult males, until it was a fully matriarchal society. Despite that, though, seeing as the males weren’t really oppressed, not really, no one really rebelled, really did anything, because even though they were regarded as less, barring the Tettan, there wasn’t really anything they weren’t allowed to do.
This carried on for roughly a hundred years, peaceful once more, the Tettan governing in decisions, the males slinking to the shadows… Until the Kwai came and discovered them. They didn’t know there were others out there, others in their galaxy, or even period…
Well, you can imagine the disruption it caused.
HOMEWORLD:
Beonan is a quite small planet, at maximum the size of Pluto, if one were to measure, placing it by a giant Red Sun. When it expanded quite awhile go, it swallowed up two other planets, but Beon was the perfect distance away that the now-cooler Red Giant still heats it. The temperature, as a whole, is warm, not hot, no, but it’s warm, and typically stays about that temperature, and the planet is a rocky one, with plant life scattered but there, the ground and lifeforms resembling the mountainous regions of earth, albeit without the whole ‘going upwards’ part. The color of the rocks makes it quite easy for Beonans to blend in, should they need to.
They’ve got some large natural predators on their planet, which contributes to the fact that they, well, hide, and thus their buildings blend into the rock, structures that seem to be part of it, or that they build themselves to appear that way. It’s often that someone will head home and open a rock door right into a rocky mini-mountain. The largest structure of all is a full-fledged mountain that their governmental building was built into, housing their Tettan and all of their families, as well as where anyone would bring any disputes. As a whole, the weather is fairly dismal, not often raining, but there are typically clouds that block out the sun, with the planet usually dimmed during the day.
Their government and social structure is a touch… different from most planets, as they're considered a 'tribe', politically, which most planets are not. Their society is matriarchal, with only the females able to hold positions, though there really is only one governmental spot: The Tettan. It’s a council of the 15 oldest living female Beonans, with others only ascending into their ranks when one of them dies. People bring their disputes to them, and they’ll solve them. There is a touch of tension, at times, amongst the Tettan, when they do not agree. In order to keep their 'all-knowing' status, all of the disputes are handled in a room separate from the one that inquired, so they would not see that they didn't know, and there is some political movement in the group itself, with people trying to divide the group in order to make sure that their decisions go through, as it's the majority rules, but they present a united front to the public. Other than that, though, there is precious little for them to do.
They do not run on currency, bartering and trading for what they need, as they function in a reciprocity economy, not possessing a marketplace or anything. Being quite the small population (roughly a thousand), everyone knows everyone, who’s good at making what, and etc, and they function quite easily on that, everyone getting their food from hunting, or bartering with the hunters to get the food themselves, as they're a hunting and gathering society, not doing any sort of agriculture or raising of animals. Religion-wise, they're very simple people. They believe in the concept of reincarnation, that once you die, you're born again, but they don't have any religious figures, barring the Tettan, whom they see as the absolute truth. If they declared that the species no longer believed in reincarnation, they would no longer believe in reincarnation.
A quite simple government and race, but they’re very much okay with that.

POWERS, STRENGTHS, AND WEAKNESSES:
Powers:
- Claws and Teeth – All Beonans have prominent, and sharp, claws and teeth, which help them greatly when they must fight. The female teeth and claws tend to be sharper, simply so that they will actually work against the increased durability of their male counterparts, but all are sharp, the claws often leaving scars, if they catch deep enough, with the teeth usually breaking skin (of course, if their opponent has increased durability in some way, these are often negated) and if they manage to trap an easy part of the body in their jaws (ex: A hand, an arm, etc), they can sometimes break the bone, with difficulty.
- Enhanced Senses – All Beonans have better senses than most. They have keen eyes, able to see in almost any condition, and far, their sense of touch is far better than most, their hearing is very good, their capacity for taste is huge, and they’re very good at catching people’s scents. All of these have helped them in their hunting over the year, and are quite prominent. However, it is worth noting that while they possess enhanced senses, they certainly aren’t super. Good, but not that level.
- Durability – And here’s where the difference comes in. All males on Beonan possess great durability, again, not super, but good. Things are not likely to break their skin, they really aren’t going to get bruised, or scraped up… While they can be tossed around and hurt from that, simply because, well, it hurts, it isn’t going to damage them, in all likelihood.
- Strength – On the flipside, there’s the females. They possess, not super strength, again, but a great deal more upper body strength than their male counterparts. They can usually lift roughly five times their own body weight (which, considering that they don’t weigh a lot, doesn’t put them at lifting a massive amount, but it’s certainly nothing to sneeze at), though there are occasions where Beonans can lift more weight than that, or cannot hit that number of ‘times’.
Weaknesses:
- Fighting - Beonans are a very peaceful nation, as the whole. Thus, they have no experience in fighting. The military does not exist, they don't get into wars, all that kind of stuff, so that's completely new to them, and if you throw them into a battlefield, they'll have no clue what to do. As a whole, they're better suited for running and hiding than fighting, being more used to the former than the latter.
- Technology - Beonans are veeery backwards, in comparison to most societies today. The simple fact of not wanting to has stopped many discoveries and innovations in their tracks, and for the most part, they don't deal well with change. Thus, dealing with the technology that the rest of the 31st century uses? Hooo boy. That's not gonna be a fun thing for them, whatsoever, as they're extremely unused to this kind of technology, and their first thought will likely be HOLY NEJRON MAGIC.
- Societal Differences - To put it quite simply, their government is very different from pretty much, well, a lot of other planets out there, and thus their society is quuuuite different. It's kind of a culture shock, going, well, anywhere, with the males usually feeling very out of place, and the females feeling, well, confused as to why the males don't care that they're females? Maaajor culture shock, traveling anywhere, and the sheer fact that it's so different is likely to make a majority of the Beonans call it quits on all other planets, period. Don't want to deal with that stress.
