THE GOOD STUFF;;
(OPTIONAL IMAGE)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Pretty average looking with short brown hair and brown eyes. Doesn't really stand out a lot, but that helps when you're a spy.
Only seen him in civilian clothes once; need to re-check that image for more detail.
Legion uniform is basically a black bodysuit with a white emblem on the front that looks kinda like a really blocky lowercase "i", a black headband, and the standard issue Legion belt and flight ring. He was seen returning from a date once wearing what looked like a white hoodie over his uniform.
PERSONALITY:
Lyle is undeniably brave, walking straight into danger even when he's plainly terrified by the prospect. He's usually good at keeping his head on straight and knowing what the priorities are, even when he seems to be scared out of his mind. Rather flirtatious at times. Seems to be pretty open-minded as, even though everyone else was inclined to immediately distrust Cham for being a Durlan, Lyle not only befriended him but turned out to know some of the language. While he seems capable of taking charge of situations (backstopping Leviathan on their first mission, initiating and leading the Legion's Espionage Squad) he really doesn't seem to like taking on an administrative role (when he became Legion leader after Violet when Emerald Empress Cray-Cray and half the team became lost in time); he generally prefers to act in the background. He's also noted for being 'buddies' with Brainy, though that may simply be due to the fact that they both share a scientific background. Speaking of which, Lyle /is/ noted for being a great biochemist, and while Brainy may be the smartest being known, Lyle shows more creativity (seeing the potential for the flight rings in the waste metal Brainy had previously discarded).
Lyle is also terribly curious, it seems, as the moment he learns that someone's been keeping something from his--as when R.J. Brande revealed he had some telepathic ability none of the kids had previously known about--he immediately wants to know what else they've been hiding.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
- Biochemistry: This is his first and foremost ability, and the one that predicates his namesake power. Lyle is a child prodigy and a skilled scientist, knowledgeable in a variety of fields that allow him to be able to effectively sabotage enemy tech, or conversely create a serum that can give one the power to turn invisible.
- Invisibility: Lyle developed a serum that allows him to bend light rays around his body and clothing, rendering himself invisible to the naked eye. He is capable of extending this affect to others, but it takes extreme effort and taxes him greatly.
- Sneaky: While Lyle can make himself invisible, he can't make himself intangible or mask any sounds he might make. Thus, he had to practice and hone his natural skills of sneakiness, allowing him to go about undetected while invisible.
- Creativity: This relates to his scientific skill; Lyle will often see things in a different way from others, the primary example being the flight rings. Brainiac 5 had discarded his degravitized scrap metal as being useless waste, but Lyle was able to look at it and see the potential for an invaluable new tool.
WEAKNESSES:
- Headstrong: Lyle has been known to disregard direct orders when he feels he needs to do something, whether it's tagging along on a mission he's been ordered to stay away from, or messing around with a ruined time machine after being told to wait for an expert. While this often has good effects, that still doesn't take away from the fact that this makes him a source of aggravation and frustration for those in command, and frequently gets him in trouble.
- Imperfect Power: His invisibility is limited. For one thing, as stated before, while he may be invisible, he's still tangible and can make noises. For another, he can be detected by tech designed to see things that are hidden, or tracked by aliens with great senses of smell.
- Fear: It's possible that when scared, he tends to mess up a lot more frequently. This is exemplified during the Legion's second round with Tangleweb; Lyle is supposed to be an experienced government spy, and yet while in Tangleweb's well-lit lair, he trips over a silken trip wire and falls directly into a trap. Hopefully, he's not actually prone to mistakes like that, and was simply distracted by the fact that he was obviously quite terrified of Tangleweb and encountering him in the cave.
- Acrophobia: Lyle is noted for being afraid of heights. While frequent use of the Legion's flight rings has certainly helped him overcome this fear, it still lingers and can catch him by surprise sometimes in bad situations.
- Only Human: Aside from his power of invisibility, Lyle is nothing more than an Earth-born human, and is just as vulnerable to physical, energy, or magical attacks as the rest of us.

HISTORY:
Lyle was a scientific child prodigy growing up on Earth. Early on, he managed to create a serum that would allow him to become invisible at will. When Earthgov got wind up this, they recruited him to become a spy for them, during which time it is theorized he visited the planet Durla, learning some of their language, and encountered the infamous criminal Tharok.
When R.J. Brande formed the Legion, Lyle pulled some strings in order to be conscripted as Earth's representative, and was a valuable asset given his power and experience. He was headstrong, though, and had some difficulty following orders; he even secretly organized and formed a Legion Espionage Squad, it's membership only known to those involved in it, in order to ferret out information relating to such cases as the White Triangle's activities against the U.P., or President Chu's covert operations.
After Violet, while possessed by the Eye of Ekron, sent half the Legion to the 20th century before disappearing, he was voted into becoming the new leader of the remaining members--something he was definitely not happy about, having been used to working in the background (not to mention having never dealt with so much paperwork before!)--but he managed to be a good leader, making good snap decisions (for the most part) and holding the team together. After the U.P. began being threatened by the apparently-Khund-led Affiliated Planets, however, Lyle chose to step down from being the Legion's leader, with Saturn Girl replacing him, so that he could re-organize the Legion Espionage Squad and get to work getting to the bottom of the latest crisis.
(It was around this time that we learned that Lyle has an on-again, off-again relationship with someone who at the time was known to us only as C, but is strongly theorized to be Condo Arlik, who in this universe is a reporter.)
