THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Shikari has an odd appearance, her skin a dark grey, with longer green hair that reaches down the bottom of her back. Her eyes are a pupiless yellow, and on her face are two odd rectangular black stripes, one descending frown her hairline, the other from her lips. On her back are two pairs of clear, gossamer insect wings, and her feet are slightly more curved than a human’s, with a strong grip, allowing her to perch when she sleeps. She’s got a vaguely insect look about her, and while she’s not short, she’s not tall, either, though above the human female average, roughly 5’7”.
Clothing wise, she has two distinctive outfits. One is a maroon dress that is a remnant of her time when she was permanently with the Kwai. It isn’t the most combat-suited outfit, but as she greatly loves it, she wears it frequently, whenever she feels confident that she won’t be doing much fighting. Second is her red and grey jumpsuit, that even includes a legion belt, shoes, and shoulder pads with spikes. No matter what outfit she is wearing, however, she wears a Legion ring proudly on her finger.
In addition, she has her armored ‘former’, a type of armor that spreads over her body, similar to an exoskeleton. It’s pure black, in several plates that interconnect over her whole body, and they create spikes on either shoulders, as well as extending her fingers into claws. Over her face, it creates a covering that is sort of similar to a snout, albeit short, with a small red circle of sorts at eye level, that she sees out of.
PERSONALITY: Shikari is a friendly, if odd, being, preferring to assume that people are her friend from the start, and usually has a kind word for all. She can be blunt at times, but that is more because she doesn’t know how to censor herself or be discreet, instead simply saying what comes to her mind. Thankfully, most of her words are very kind. She is also a bit of a lonely individual, as amongst her people she is a bit of an outcast, and she lost her one of her best friends not too long ago. Several of them, actually.
The girl is also a fierce warrior and fighter, possessing a warrior spirit that has mostly been erased from her race, and she does not give up. The concept is extremely foreign to her, and so even when she’s far behind and all seems lost, she will never give up. She’s also very curious, something which can occasionally interfere with things, but she’s incredibly loyal, and once she has decided to befriend you, you have a friend for life.
She can be incredibly stubborn at times, though, particularly to things regarding herself. She’s someone who operates on feelings, most of the time, rather than logic, so her instantaneous opinion is likely to be very different from one who analyzes. If someone has sound enough logic (the being close to her does help), she is willing to cave, but for the most part, she doesn’t like to, wanting to fully prove herself. Shikari finally has a chance to, now, and she’s stubborn and wants to do so.
All in all, Shikari is a very kind and sweet being, but who will tear you apart if you hurt her friends.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
- Finding – Shikari can, well, find anything. While she can certainly find people, she most often uses her powers to find ideas, such as ‘the way home’ or the ‘biggest danger’, and things like that. It’s quite handy, and it’s something that she just instinctively knows, something quite difficult to explain, but like a GPS in her brain. Because of this power, she can navigate Thresholds, as well as see through illusions.
- Flight – Shikari can fly, without her Legion Ring, as evidenced by the wings on her back. She’s quite quick, and she’s very good in the air, being quite accustomed to it, speeding her up and making her a little more at ease. She’s better at fighting when she can be off the ground as well, as she’s very unused to fighting with her feet on the ground. So, when in the air, Shikari’s got the advantage~.
- Armor – All of the Kwai have an armored sort of exoskeleton that can cover their bodies, and Shikari is no exception. It makes her far more durable, able to withstands greater hits than she would have without it, and it extends her hands into claws, giving her a bit more of an oomph to her fighting (though that does not help much when she’s trying to not injure her opponent). She can also survive in a vacuum for extended periods of time while wearing said 'armor'. Her visibility is slightly impaired when she has it on, but it does not affect her too much, and is still quite the advantage. It does take time for her to be sheathed in it, however, so surprise attacks may leave her unable to use it.
WEAKNESSES:
- Fighting - Fighting... is not Shikari's strong point. Nor is strategy. While she has lashed out at her enemies before, and is slowly picking things up as she fights, she has never been formally trained, and is wholly inexperienced. Strategy is definitely not one of her strong points, either, and she is quite liable to get caught in a trap.
- Naive - Shikari is, well, naive. She's not used to this galaxy just yet, quite a few things, from societal customs, to technology, to language are quite new to her, and she's still getting used to fighting on a team, with others beside her and backing her. Her first action, in addition, when facing someone who isn't obviously 'bad', is to ask, and she usually is not quite prepared, then.
- Armor - While her armor definitely helps her against attacks, it's also a detriment, after too long. As stated before, it is more difficult to see when she's donning her armor, which for a short period of time, is not particularly bothersome, but over time, it's honestly difficult to get a good glimpse of what's going on around her. Seeing as her armor is a part of her, when it's damaged, it still hurts, like all get out. Yes, it's more durable, but can it be damaged? Heck yeah, and it hurts quite a bit. Destroy a piece of her armor, or damage it quite a bit, and Shikari's likely down for the count. In addition, it's simply irksome to wear her armor for too long, the heat trapped by the covering and the extra weight making her tire easier when she has it on.
- Other - For one, she's not particularly strong, not particularly fast... Physically, she's just roughly normal. She doesn't have a lot of power in the aggressive section, honestly. Her claws are about all she has (she can't particularly pack a punch), and she only has those when she's wearing her armor. She's also very stubborn, and if she's wrong, that can lead to following through with a bad mistake, instead of listening to others. Shikari's aaaalso kind of gullible, too.
GOALS: To learn more and get accustomed to this galaxy, to stop evil that ravages the universe, and to get closer to her teammates.
HISTORY: Shikari was born amongst the Kwai, a nomadic insectic alien race that traversed the galaxy. She had a fierce fire in her, a warrior spirit, that used to be the norm for her species, but wasn’t anymore, and thus was somewhat an outcast, though she did have her friends. Her life was fairly normal until her species spotted a ‘feral star’, a new star that wasn’t there before, and headed in that direction. Unfortunately, this put them in the path of a species called the ‘Progeny’, who proceeded to try and wipe them out.
Separated from her group, she found herself finding a ruin of a spaceship outpost. Little did she know, but it contained part of the group of the Legion of Superheroes. Trapped by the progeny, the Legion broke out of the Trommium keeping them in stasis, and quickly defeated them, while Shikari did her best to give them a run-down of the message their friend, Element Lad, had left for them in her broken Interlac.
She decided to stay with them, and help them find a way home and defeat the Progeny, even when the rest of the Kwai left. It was a difficult, despairing time, but she found herself growing close to the Legionnaire known as Monstress and Wildfire, her ‘feral star’. They fought, did their best to work out a way to get home, but it crushed them all, this horribleness… Until they were captured by the Progeny.
Brought before their leader, it turned out to be their friend, Element Lad, but… He was different. Changed. He had been alone for billions of years and had gone virtually insane, god-like, and far beyond any level they could comprehend, having even created Shikari’s race, something which struck her deeply, wrongly. The worst part had yet to come, however, when he killed Monstress, striking out and destroying her.
Then they attacked. It was hopeless, though, but the Legion did their best, trying to hold off their former friend and escape through a rift, and they accomplished it… But not without Lightning Lad sacrificing his life to destroy what remained of a once loyal, gentle, kind, and selfless Legionnaire. They drifted through the rift, though, making it back to their home, and Shikari caught a glimpse of Earth, the planet that her friends had nearly killed themselves to save…
From there, it went both downhill and uphill. She was an official Legionnaire, but Ra’s ah Ghul was there, confronting them, and then it turned out that the Kwai were from another galaxy, and they were able to connect via Thresholds! But Universo, and Computo… It was a long trip with the Legion. But a good one, in all honesty, and she looks forward to continuing.
It was fun to fight alongside Legion Friends.
THE NITTY-GRITTY;;
SCREENNAME: Poet~
Time spent roleplaying: 5-ish years!
Other Characters: Sent Pryor~
RP Sample: This was not one of their more exciting missions. Then again, their exciting missions usually meant they had to save the United Planets or the universe from destruction, and people usually died, so this was a good thing. And one quite suited for her talents, too!
After gaining an initial description of the girl, a very bright girl (Bright One, she had mentally dubbed her), Shikari had quickly taken flight, flitting around to gaze curiously at the world which they were approaching. She could have flown there, quite easily, but that would have resulted in her not getting a description, and while she could easily find her without a description, if she was in a crowd, maybe, she wouldn’t realize which… The incident at the beginning of her career with the Legion had made her very keen to gather information.
She was fairly certain Green Legion approved of that, as well!
Speaking of which… She let her eyes slide to him, examining the odd holo picture. He was going off on his own, she knew. He wasn’t going to let her lead the way, not at all, even though she could find the girl so easily… Well. She’d show him again. He would see.
So when the shuttle came to an abrupt halt, the Kwai closed her eyes, searching, searching, searching… there! There was the path! Quickly, she extended her wings, letting them keep her aloft as she followed the path quickly, her dress and hair whipping around her in the air (it was unlikely to be a ‘fighting’ mission, after all, not one of any challenge, so her familiar dress was fine) as she flitted… Oh, she was not far, not at all!
The Kwai could sense the path coming to an end, and she narrowed yellow eyes, trying to catch a glimpse of her… They quickly ran over a figure that appeared to be dancing, dismissing it, but… that figure was moving. And the trail was extending. She sped up, her Legion Ring coming up to her mouth as she tracked the trail. “I have found her, Green Legion. I am following the path, and I just saw her.” The path was coming to an end, though, and she hovered, not wanting to land, but the trail was in that building… So she did.
Stepping into the building, each step a careful one, the Kwai followed her trail, stepping into the room where it ended, a room filled with odd boxes. It was in such disrepair… Not somewhere she wanted to be. Yet, she spoke up. “Bright One?” she called in her tinted Interlac, eyes roaming for the girl even as she stepped forward, hoping to avoid a fight. “I do not wish to harm you, Bright One, do come forward.”
It never seemed to work, yet the other was someone who was on the same side as her, so perhaps…?
