He couldn't sleep.
Typically, on a night like this Rokk would have simply gone somewhere to practice his abilities or to the gym to work it off, but since coming to Earth and becoming the leader of the Legion he more often than not found himself seated in the monitoring room going over reports and the files for the team's active member roster. It wasn't that he was being nosey or delving into their personal lives. He simply liked knowing the people he would be dealing with, and his duties hadn't exactly given him adequate time to get to know them face to face. It irritated him a bit, but he supposed it couldn't be helped.
The glowing holoscreens scanned through the various files, but after a while Rokk had stopped paying attention. There were active members, potential members, upcoming member auditions, damage complaint reports...just a jumble of words on seven screens. He still wasn't tired.
"Computer," he said, wincing at his voice echoing in the otherwise empty room, "are there any alerts in any nearby quadrants?"
< Negative. All nearby quadrants are currently at condition green. Outlying sectors along the United Planets borders are still at condition yellow. >
Rokk's eyes widened slightly. "Yellow? Is that normal?"
< Affirmative. >
Frowning, the Braalian let his clasped hands rest on his lap, leaning back in his chair; it was unsettling to learn that planetary systems that were within UP jurisdiction were apparently always looking over their shoulder in case of an attack simply because they were further out than the core systems. It wasn't fair, every member of the UP should have the same degree of protection, regardless of their distance from Earth...
"Computer...new patrol schedule. I'll need four squads scanning the outlying sectors..." He sighed heavily, glancing at their rather slim team roster. "Squad members, commanders, and rotation to be assigned later...Save file."
< File saved. >
Covering his face with his hands and rubbing at his eyes in frustration and exhaustion, Rokk felt that he may end up finding himself in the monitoring room more than he would like.

She couldn’t sleep.
It wasn’t because she was restless, tossing and turning and fretting over something, oh no! No, she had so much energy, was so darn excited, that she couldn’t. Here she was, in another dimension, on a planet called Earth, on a team of superheroes. This was so exciting!
Honestly, she was kind of surprised that everyone else wasn’t up, too, but then again, she was fairly certain that most of the people here had longer to get used to this than she had. After all, she had just gotten on Earth today. It was… eerie, a bit. Being in a place that seemed so similar, yet was so vastly different… Weird.
Tossing the covers off of her with a groan, the girl rose to her feet, drifting over to her closet. Her first thought was to go for some of the simple clothes she had managed to grab, plain ones, but… She should wear her uniform, for now. It gave her a bit of a thrill, to realize that she was actually doing this, so why not? Quickly slipping out of her sleeping clothes, she donned her uniform, smoothing it out, before floating off the ground and drifting through her door. She hadn’t actually opened it once, yet. Seemed kind of pointless.
Drifting through the hallway, rapidly turning down areas she had yet to explore, she listened for a single breath of sound, but… nothing. It was deserted, empty, and she let out a quiet sigh, drifting ever onward. Yeah, she should’ve figured no one else would be up, but she was hoping that may-
Wait, what was that? A sound broke the silence, someone… speaking, a very quiet noise that she only picked up on because she was listening for it. Great, someone was up! Flitting in that direction immediately, she phased through the closed door, blinking in surprised before giving the boy a smile, drifting in further as she glanced around the room with curiosity, before her eyes returned to the esteemed leader of the Legion. “Hey, Cosmic Boy,” she greeted quietly, even though they wouldn’t wake anyone. It was just… one of those things you did. Or she did. Either or. “You can’t sleep, either?” Just a guess, but… maybe they could not sleep together?
Anything was better than drifting through lifeless hallways alone.

Rokk might've jumped out of his skin had he been more "aware" as well as "awake", but as it stood he started and turned to look in the direction of the new voice in the room. It was Phantom Girl--Tinya Wazzo--one of their newest recruits. He honestly didn't know much about her--or anyone else, for that matter--but she seemed nice enough, not to mention eager. Rokk could only hope her enthusiasm would be infectious.
"Miss Wazzo," he said with a nod and a smile. "Heh. That obvious, huh? Seems like there's always something that needs to be done, some report that needs to be reviewed and filed, a communique that needs responding to..." He shrugged, turning back to the screens. "I couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd make a dent in the busywork..."
It was mostly true, of course, but the main reason he couldn't sleep was a simple matter of not yet having adjusted to the planet's magnetic fields. So long as he kept his mind occupied, he didn't feel nauseated.
"What has you up at this crazy hour? I figured everyone else would be out cold, considering there's a training sim in the morning."

Giving him a smile, the first words out of her mouth were predictable to anyone that knew her. “Call me Tinya.” Miss Wazzo was just… It reminded her too much of those politicians from back home, and though she certainly knew the field and could play it, she certainly didn’t like it. Or, rather, the people in it. They tended to be, well… Not the best. Not that that was a thing against her mom, of course, that wasn’t. She was shrewd, but not… not like that.
Drifting over, she nodded slightly at his words, peering at the screen with curiosity before returning her gaze to him. “I’m just too excited to sleep, y’know?” she replied, glancing about for a chair, and upon locating one, pulling it over to plop in it next to Cosmic Boy. “I’m in a whole ‘nother dimension, on a team of superheroes…” She shook her head lightly. “It’s a lot to take in.” Even if she really should be sleeping, because ugh, a training sim... Which. She had never done before, actually, so it should prove fun.
Her grin remained in place, though, and she propped her elbows on the armrest, resting her chin on them as she gave Cosmic Boy a (hopefully) disarming smile. “Mind if I stay up, in here, with you?” For one, she’d get to know their esteemed leader, for two, she wouldn’t have to be stuck alone, and would get to chill with someone, as people were better…
And honestly, even if he said no, she might stick around. She was kind of stubborn like that, honestly. Definitely something she got from Mom.

Rokk just smiled tiredly. "Tinya. Okay." He turned back to his screens, opening a few star maps on the holo-screens and having one magnify on Braal. "Home. Not too pretty, definitely not spectacular, but home. Mostly slums and run-down cities...used to be a nice place to live once, or so I'm told. Not in my lifetime, though." Leaning back in his chair, he tried toget comfortable again. "So...tell me about yourself. I'd like to get to know my teammates."

She leaned forward in her seat to get a better look at Cosmic Boy’s planet. Cool… It was always a weird thought when one tried to imagine what life was like for someone else, on another planet. How different was it, how similar, etc… Odd thoughts that occupied her, sometimes.
Settling back in her chair as the subject turned to her, Tinya considered. “Well… I come from the planet Bgztl, in my dimension, and everyone can phase there. Um…” A grin popped back onto her face at this piece of information she could share. “I’ve actually been sort of on an adventure, for the last year-ish. Just exploring the planets, y’know? That’s actually how I got here, spotted a wormhole, decided hey, why not, jumped in, and the next thing you know, I’m in a totally different dimension!”
And this is why it was better to go explore when one couldn’t sleep, rather than lay around and attempt to. Good conversation, getting to know her teammate better… Beginning to tick off things on her fingers, her eyes flickered to the ceiling while she thought. “And… It’s just me and my Mom, family-wise, she’s actually, like, in charge of my universe, my favorite color is white, and bugging people is entertaining to me, sometimes.”
Returning her gaze to Cosmic Boy, her grin grew slightly. “Do you need more, esteemed leader, or is it your turn~?”

"Not really much to tell," he said with a shrug. "I left home to try and help my family pay off their debts. Braal is economically and politically near the bottom of the intergalactic barrel these days. I used to play Magnoball professionaly, but the credit prizes weren't nearly enough to make a dent in what my parents owe, so I gave it up and decided to leave the planet to find a proper job..." He yawned and stretched, finally noting how sore his lower back was from sitting in that damned chair for so long. "Met Imra and Garth not long after I left, and well...the rest is sort've public knowledge these days.'
