BRAINIAC FOUR
Pain, without love.
Pain, I can’t get enough.
Pain, I like it rough.
‘Cause I’d rather feel pain than nothing at all.
Pain, I can’t get enough.

THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Brainiac 4 is on the taller end of the spectrum, certainly, roughly 5'9", and a nice figure, thin, but not twiggy, though she doesn't have a great amount of curves to speak of. Her skin is, like all Coluans, a deep, lovely green color, and she has a full head of luscious blonde hair, slightly wavy and curly, that comes down to about her shoulders. If one had to choose her best feature, then it would usually be that. Her eyes are a light grey-green, often difficult to differentiate between the two colors, but then again, it isn't as if people are often looking at them.
She likes to wear loose clothes, and they have to be simply ones, lacking any sort of detail or stitching, because of her... odd tendencies, and the fact that she is in a mental asylum. You don't want her to be able to do anything with them, do you? Dark blue tends to be the color she wears, though that is more from what she is given than any like for the color. Facial expression-wise... Blank, most of the time, something which her lack of emotions plays a key part in. When her son's around, however... Expect a twisted smile to form on her face, emotion, spark flooding her, however small, and for everything in her body to be towards him, about him, and more... intense.
He's the only thing that inspires anything in her, nowadays.
PERSONALITY: Brainiac Four fits two words, ones that don't seem to fit at all together, yet they somehow do: Apathetic, and obsessed. Yes, completely not meshing, yet... they make perfect sense.
Oddly enough, the Coluan cannot feel emotions. She simply lacks them altogether, and as such, she is ridiculously apathetic. It doesn't matter how people treat her, as she literally does not care. As such, when it comes time to interact with other people, she treats them with emotionless disdain. They are not even a speck on her radar, for if she cannot even garner enough emotion to be annoyed by them, why would they matter at all to her?
In fact, she'd likely kill them, because, secondly, he is obsessed with being able to feel emotions. It's just a spark, a spark of absolute feeling, one that she would not know what name to put to, and she craves that feeling, like a drug, just spiraling through her and making her feel. Murder, she has found, directly or indirectly, causes some of that within her, with the attempted murder of her son, even though she did not succeed, causing the most feeling. Thus, he is what she wants. Not dead, perhaps, but long drawn out damage, reducing him to utter helplessness... It makes her feel.
Intellectual challenges are quite stimulating to her, as well, mentally, but they do not provide anything in the way of emotions. However, if she does find something truly difficult, something that she really has to put her mind to, that is... nice. As it is a rarity, with few things challenging a twelfth level intellect.
Over all, Brainiac Four is a being who desperately craves that which will inspire feelings within her, and cares nothing for that which will not.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
- Twelfth Level Intellect - Brainiac 4, much like her son, Brainiac 5, possesses a Twelfth Level Intellect, the highest possible, making her one of the smartest beings in the entire universe. She has 12 different tracks of consciousness, in fact, possessing an eidetic memory, able to think about 12 different trains of thought at the exact same time, and relative immunity to telepathic attacks. It is rather difficult when you can only target one of the tracks, after all. Unlike her son, the only other currently existing Twelfth Level, Brainiac 4's lack of emotions actually make her rather stable (despite how she comes off, she is rather stable), and she is able to quite easily handle herself, mentally. Should she regain her soul, and thus emotions, this may be a different story... But for now, she is stable.
- Lack of Morals - While such a thing would not normally be considered a strength, it certainly doesn't inhibit her. While many would be worried over a loss of intelligent life, she certainly isn't, and it frees her up from having to consider that. She is completely unwilling to sift through the darker aspects of life, and touch methods that the Science Police and the Legion of Superheroes would not at all be willing to come into contact with. This can put her at an advantage, giving her a wider range of what exactly she can do.
- Minor Fighting Ability - While she is untrained, Brainiac 4 has picked up some fighting skills over the years, particularly when she was posing as the hero, Twelfth Woman, and they're plenty to incapacitate a civilian and anyone who's relatively untrained or inexperienced in fighting, though she cannot stand up against those actually trained and/or very experienced.
WEAKNESSES:
Lacking a Soul - Well, here's one that she can't fix. As her soul was sold to Neron back in the 21st century, Brainiac 4 lacks a soul, and is thus not truly Brainiac 4, merely an empty husk that lacks emotion, while the true Brainiac 4 is merely a soul existing in hell. Of course, her entire lack of emotion is what makes her frequently appear absolutely insane, being obsessed with actually making herself feel, as stated above, and is most of her motivation. Hopefully, she can eventually become whole...
Physical - Physically, she is... mildly fit, but not overly so. Anyone who actually trains will be able to far outweigh her in any of those matters, and her fighting skills are not expert-level, by far, just what she has picked up along the way. Should she be forced in engage in any sort of physical combat with a superhero or an officer, she will, most likely, utterly lose.[/ul]
GOALS: To inspire feeling in herself. Thus far, the only way to do that seems to be killing, and, in particular, killing her son. If she could feel another way, though, she'd certainly accept that...
HISTORY: Oddly enough, Brainiac 4's history does not start with her birth. No, it starts far, far before that, in the 21st century.
With a man named Brainiac 2.
He was an ancestor of Brainiac 4's, her grandfather, to be precise, and he made a deal with a demon, called Neron, and sold a soul of one of his 30th century descendants. Brainiac 4's soul, to be precise.
Then, roughly a millenium later, the impact of that was felt, as the infant Brainiac was born without a soul, thus rendering her not truly Brainiac 4, but... a husk. An imitation, a body that contained nothing but a mind and life, no feelings, none of the things that usually make one... humane. Unknowing of this, the Coluan found that she could not feel, could not feel any spark of emotion run through her as she grew, becoming Colu's primary researcher.
She was a twelfth level intellect, the highest there was, and her mind was very stimulated, reaching for information that was far above anyone else's, and yet she felt herself left... bereft. Nothing inspired any sort of emotion in her, and the fourth Brainaic could not handle such a thing, such... ignorance, and she sought to solve that. There had to be some way...
An infant would do. Arranging for herself to be impregnated (the natural birth would be the best, it seemed, given her research), she suffered through the pregnancy, giving birth to a boy, the one that she had named Querl, and... nothing. She felt absolutely nothing towards him, not a shred of emotion had been roused. This would not do, and, determined to not waste any more time, with Colu accepting him as her successor, Brainiac Four headed out into the world to attempt to find something that would make her feel.
She tried a myraid of things, none of them successful. Brainia Starr, a gambler, 12th woman, a hero, a nameless beggar... Even when she became the leader of the Dark Circle, a conqueror, nothing seemed to work. At least... not at first. And then she sent an entire AP fleet to their deaths, and she could suddenly feel. It was amazing, and addictive, and that body known as Brainiac 4 wanted more.
Thus, she decided to try for the next thing. Arranging for them to meet, she met with her son, Brainiac 5... and attempted to kill him. Though she was thwarted by his teammates, it was the most she had ever felt, racing through her, and she wanted more, more, just as much feeling as she could possibly have.
Now, she's in a mental asylum, getting treatment, her emotions firmly on apathetic, and the treatments... aren't working. No surprise, really. Until body and soul are reunited, this is what you get...

She had been informed earlier, and was now waiting for him in the visiting room, seated in her chair, a small smirk present on her face. Her hands were still sheathed in their cuffs, something to be expected, while she was bound securely in her chair, and a glimmering force field divided her part of the room from the side Querl would be present at, with an officer in her corner of the room, and the fourth Brainiac knew one would enter with her son.
It was cute, how they thought she would attempt to kill him.
Would she? Definitely not. In such a setting, his death would have to be quick, in order for her to actually succeed, and there would be so little to feel in such a case. No, a long, drawn out and painful death would be much better, give her so much more than just one quick glimpse of light fading from his eyes... But now, at least, Brainiac Four could cause him mental anguish. It would not give her as much as physical anguish, certainly not, nor his death, but it would provide her with something.
Regardless of how much she was to gain in this meeting, he was still coming and she was still to gain feeling from torturing her devoted son, so the woman fixed her eyes on the entrance, waiting patiently for the appearance of her fellow Coluan.
Querl was coming today.
