THE GOOD STUFF;;
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Physical Appearance
Querl is 5’7”ft/170cm, 61kg/135 lbs on Earth. His complexion is a sort of mint-lime shade of green, and his hair is a yellow-blonde color. His personality inhibitor implants - two bars on his cheekbones, three diodes on his forehead, and one large bar on his side - are all white in color, and protrude slightly. He has stringy muscles, and a generally scrawny or lanky build. Querl has short, blonde hair, with some messy short bangs parted in the middle, and a noticeable cowlick on the back of his head. He has neon green eyes, that can sometimes appear yellow-ish. He also has relatively large ears, compared to his head shape. His nose turns upward slightly, and is relatively small. His lips are also rather thin. His blood is a dark, forest green color, and thus, affects his skin color accordingly. (i.e. wounds, blushing, sunburning, the inside of his mouth.) His teeth are a bit crooked, but not too notably. He stands in a startlingly straight posture, and has a voice that could be classified in the tenor range.
Usual Attire
Querl wears a black and purple jumpsuit, where the purple coloring is a vertical stripe going down the center of the suit, and which widens into a circle around his clavacles. The stripe goes down both the front and back of the suit. He has a concealed zipper going down the front, and a high collar that reaches just below his chin. He wears a yellow legion belt with the gold and black buckle. There are two yellow pouches attached to this, one on each side, that can hold a decent amount of small objects. He also wears yellow, rain boot-ish boots that reach mid-calf, and which have black soles, and some seaming on the outside that create an almost padded looking texture. He is also never seen without his flight ring, which is valorium, but appears to shine similar to gold, and is emblazoned with the legion insignia.
Formal Clothing
When at a formal event, Querl will usually be found in a slim purple suit, with a wide front and gold accents on the buttons and wrists. His cummerbund is generally a gold color, and his hair is slicked back. He wears plain black dress shoes, and generally leaves his transuit off, with his only equipment being his Legion flight ring.
PERSONALITY:
Querl is often described as cynical, and rather aloof. He's a rather complicated and conflicted individual, as far as his emotions come across, and his personality goes into effect. He was raised by robotic labtechs, for one, as no sane coluan wanted to deal with the latest progeny of Brainiac. This complete lack of social interaction has given him all sorts of issues right from the beginning. He was very socially awkward, and though years of time with the Legion of Superheroes has given him huge amounts of experience about social interaction, he's still not exactly the go-to person for conversation, or outings. He can be needlessly passive agressive, even when he doesn't intend to be. Extremely nasty when provoked, however. He's the sort of bitter person nobody ever wants to have as an enemy.
Querl is usually good at keeping his head in pressured situations. Being the strategist and mental powerhouse of the Legion, it's arguably his most important trait. He can remain calm and cool however long he has to, even if it's straining, if it can give him any sort of advantage. But of course, everyone's strengths can only go so far. Prolonged stress takes it's toll, and he's more likely to break down and flounder. He can't stand not being able to solve a problem, and his superiority issues really don't help. Despite this, Querl won't fight or threaten something unless he has to, or if such an action gives a strategic advantage. But it's also notable that he isn't above pranking, as it would happen.
Given his occupation, Querl has gone through some terrible events. Universe-247 is known for it's terrible genocides, and as part of a 'criminal justice' organization, Querl has had to see it all firsthand. He has his share of trauma, and will be completely bitter about any of those events being brought up.
His mind is rather chaotic, given his twelve different consciousness tracks being more active than his subconscious. He can be distant, pondering several different things at once, and is prone to ignoring people when it can interfere with his thought process. He's a methodical being, and his thoughts follow suit.
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES:
12th Level Intelligence
Since Querl is an odd-numbered descendant of Brainiac, he has inherited the gene for a twelfth level intelligence. Which entails that he possesses extreme mental computation abilities, an eidetic memory, and 12 separate consciousness tracks. That referring to how Brainiac 5 has been shown being able to ponder twelve lines of thought simultaneously. His subconscious - usually the more active and chaotic part of the mind - is less active than his twelve simultaneous conscious thoughts. However, this also makes him extremely emotionally unstable, as a 12th level intelligence isn’t normal for his species, and his physiology cannot easily handle that amount of mental power. Therefore, he has Personality Inhibitor implants, that regulate and allow him to control his emotions, and his forcefield powers. These were integrated with his system as part of the Space Anomaly. He has five on his face (three circles on his forehead and two bars on his cheekbones), and one large bar on the left side of his torso. These can protrude, and there is a port on the right diode on his forehead where data can be transmitted or rearranged. He is also relatively immune to most telepathic attacks, since those only affect one level of consciousness. A strong telepath could incapacitate him for a while, though.
Forcefield Constructs
Due to an incident in the Space Anomaly, his force field belt had been merged with his new Personality Inhibitor implants. This allows him to instantly project his forcefield, and mark it as an internal power, instead of relying on his belt. He can manipulate this force field in several ways. He can create constructs (Usually limited to extended/enlarged body parts or simple prisms and spheres), or coat himself in it, making his body invulnerable. His forcefield is impenetrable (An axe that slices through dimensions, and a close-range anti-mat vortex couldn’t make a dent. Also, it has contained a soul before.) but extremely taxing. When using this power, he tires quite quickly. Also, while this nulls all long range, weapon-based, or explosive attacks, he is susceptible to all wrestling attacks. (Meaning grabbing, pinning, grappling, tackling, and tossing.) However, if the character he is facing has Super Strength, he is also vulnerable to punches, kicks, kneeing, elbowing, uppercuts, and headbutts.
Flight
Querl possesses a Legion Flight ring. This allows him to null gravitational effects on himself, and fly. However, there is a maximum speed he can go.
Space Travel and Personal Climate Control
Querl also possesses a standard Legion transuit. This provides a customizable personal atmosphere, which allows him to breathe in any environment, and adjust his personal temperature. Though, transuits can be ripped with any sharp object, and given that they are hard to acquire, when he loses this one, it's over.
WEAKNESSES:
(Specific weaknesses by power listed in the powers section above)
Social
Because of his upbringing, and consequent activities with the Legion, Querl has a hard time relating to people. Often spending more of his time alone and with computers than with living beings. He isn't very charismatic, and has a very short temper when it comes to people 'not meeting his standards of intelligence'.
Sleep
Because Querl expends so much energy and his caloric intake on processing thoughts, he can get tired very, very quickly. On average, he needs about nine hours of sleep or more. If he does not reach this quota, he can be incredibly sluggish and much slower at thinking. (Not to mention, incredibly crabby.)
Physical Strength
Compared to his teammates, Querl doesn't exactly compare in physical expertise. His muscular tissue is wiry, and relatively strong for a coluan, but he still isn't that strong. He mostly relies on his forcefields to make himself hard, to land any sort of damage.
Fears
Amnesiphobia - The fear of contracting amnesia
arachibutyrophobia - The chronic fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth (Shhh he needs at least some irrational flaws.)
atelophobia - The fear of imperfection
atychiphobia - The fear of failure
dishabilophobia - The fear of undressing in front of others
meningitophobia - The fear of contracting brain disease
patroiophobia - The fear of heredity
pnigophobia - The fear of choking or being smothered
syngenesophobia - The fear of relatives
tyrannophobia - The fear of tyrants
GOALS:
To continue his career with the Legion of Superheroes, as well as advancing in scientific studies.
HISTORY:
Querl was born on the planet Colu, to Brainiac Four, the most recent progeny of the super-intelligent Brainiac line. Who, had arranged his birth in order to try and have a bout of feeling. When Brainiac Four realized she did not care for her son, she left the planet, and Brainiac Five was left to serve as the intelligence powerhouse of Colu in her absence. Unfortunately, that did not prove to be the best decision. The orphaned Querl was kept in the Coluan institute of Applied Sciences, where he was confined to his own laboratory and living space. Kept at a close eye due to his heritage, and for relatively good reason. When he was young, Querl was quite a problem child. Explosions becoming common in every lab he was assigned to, and oh dear, did he love to break all sorts of laws. Making all sorts of unauthorized experiments. His superiority issues and ideas that the rest of his species were apes, not helping his case. The coluans were more than happy to hand him over to Brande Laboratories, when they came to recruit.
That was a whole other story. By the time Querl had become accustomed to his new surroundings on Earth, he was back to his scheming ways. Creating great, helpful inventions, that only just paid off his reckless damage dues. He threw caution to the wind over, and over, in order to discover everything science could offer him. When the seventh laboratory was decimated, R.J. Brande shipped Querl off to the Time Institute. There, he worked with Rond Vidar to collect data on time anomalies, and develop theories based on them. This became his life, until quite a bit into his fifteenth year of life.
That was when he fateful day came. The day he was dragged forcibly to a Legion headquarters, under the notion that he had been drafted as Colu's representative on the Legion of Superheroes. A team that had been put together by R.J. Brande and the United Planets after the event of three fledgling 'superheroes' thwarting an assassination attempt on the millionaire. The goal, being to act as a super-powered vanguard for the United Planets, and tie them closer together politically, by every planet having a delegate.
Despite his initial protest, Querl became a huge part of the team. Which went through numerous life-threatening, heart-wrenching, mind-numbing, blissfully innocent fun times and hardships together. Friends were gained, lost, and became integral parts of each member's life. Querl found his mother, who turned out to be the leader of the Dark Circle terrorist organization, bent on killing him. He was saved, and his mother was transported to a psychiatric ward, but it left it's psychological damage on Querl.
After increasingly harsh events, including the Blight Invasion, Great Rift Incident, Robotican Invasion, and more, Querl became cynical, and a rather jaded kid. After witnessing genocides on the front lines, it was only a matter of time before he started to act much more bitter, and had a more darkened view on the world. Though much, much more experienced of a being than he had been before. He now continues to be an integral part of the Legion of Superheroes, as well as carrying out a side occupation in biochemistry.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Querl continued to sit at his lab table, teeth grit, as he worked on soldering the wires of a new threshold probe. He had been accumulating quite a few of those as of late, and still found himself making more. Having them take up more and more space in his already cluttered laboratory. Ignoring Lyle, as his friend kept trying to make him scrap some of his older projects… Just as he was trying to ignore the beeping of his laboratory comm systems. It would only take a few more seconds until he was done…
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
With an aggravated snort, Querl slammed the soldering gun on the table, clenching his teeth, as he pushed up his goggles. Nulling his flight ring, and letting his feet stomp to the floor, out of his floating sitting position. Fumbling to take off his gloves, and stuff them in his lab coat pocket, as he reached for the button, answering with a prompt, and obviously constantly used, answer of “Brainiac Five, laboratory 3, is there something urgent, or can you not figure out how to tie your shoelaces again, Ultra Boy?” The interlac chatter was rather swift, as Querl stared over at his probe. Not caring much that in his holo, he would look distracted, which he was, of course. Not paying much attention to this call at all- It was probably Cosmic Boy anyways- Asking him about idiotic things, as always. Hmph, one would think that for a team of superheroes in the 31st century, there would be a lot less incompetent cretins.
Though, the response he received, did snap his attention back to the holo being projected from his comm system. Immediately frowning at the lack of a… Well, person, being displayed. Only the duration of the call being recorded in it’s usual interlac script. The caller obviously didn’t have any holotech installed…. Very, very odd. Not as odd as the sounds it was making, though. Someone babbling in some incomprehensible language. It took Querl a second to recognize it-The language was called english, correct? Ferro had an english accent when he spoke interlac- The only way Querl would have even heard one, actually. His telepathic earplugs turning anyone’s words into perfect interlac, and his interlac being perfectly translated to… Everything else.
“Euh…” He uttered, before shaking his head, and reciting an “Excuse me-“, before going over to a corner of his lab, and digging out a pair of telepathic earplugs. Quickly tearing off his goggles, and jamming the devices into his ears, quickly tuning them for language conversion, before returning to the lab station. Turning on his flight ring again, and hovering in a criss-cross position, hands folded in his lap. “Pardon, but who is this? Lori Morning? Thunder? Bart Allen, have you forgotten how to speak interlac?” Querl rattled off the names, a frown becoming apparent on his face, and eyebrows furrowing. Not many people in this century knew any english at all. Not many people in the past, knew how to contact the future. If they did, they usually called the time institute as well, where the message would be carried over to the Legion.
How extremely odd, and rather perturbing.
